Binders, Additives and Auxiliaries

To turn ProChroma pigment dispersions into paint, they must be added to a binder. 

Binders are what holds the pigment within the paint film and the paint film to the support once the paint dries.   

Without binder, our pigment dispersions will dry back to their powdered form in the case of inorganic pigments and a tar like slurry form, in the case of organic pigments.  Unbound pigment will rub off any surface it is applied to.  More information about binders can be found HERE

Additives are optional substances that modify some physical handling property of the paint.
